Hugo Dias

Hugo qualified as a physiotherapist from Escola Superior de Saúde Egas Moniz – Portugal in 2014. He worked in Lisbon for 2 years where he acquired experience in Musculoskeletal conditions working in sports, public hospitals and private clinics. In 2016 he decided to take on a new challenge and moved to London. Since then he has worked in the private sector and recently has joined NHS at St. George’s Hospital working within the Maxillofacial Department alongside Maxillofacial Consultants and Dentists.

He keeps his private practice in Southwest London including Kingston Dental Clinic.

Hugo has specialised in TMJ/TMD and Orofacial Pain and is undergoing a Masters Degree in Pain Science and Management.

Hugo’s approach includes advice and education, soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, neck and postural function, acupuncture, muscle stretching and strengthening. When needed he will also give you advice on tailored mouth- guards that could be a great complement of the treatment.

Hugo knows how important it is to have a holistic approach to TMD/OFP as this is often caused by overloaded muscles of mastication, namely bruxism or parafunction, that has typically a strong correlation with stress and anxiety. He understands that some people will need a second opinion about their condition and he has a network of healthcare professionals that have specialised in this condition, such as MaxFax consultant, Dentist and CBT counsellors.

Outside work, Hugo is a keen sportsman and enjoys a variety of physical activity, mostly cycling, and he cycles to and from work every day.
